Zubo is an attempt to take role-play games to the younger audience. The vibrant visuals, colorful cast, and action-packed combats of the game are perfectly designed to appeal the young blood. Your main objective is to save the planet Zubalon from angry creatures called Zubos. You get to team-up with characters of popular folktales like Count Dracula, Captain Ahab, and Little Red Riding Hood adding more fun to the task.
The combats seem to be following a rhythm wherein you perform pirouettes and leaps to destroy the opponent in a battle. You need to time the tap on the screen precisely to create more damage. You have a good amount of moves to conquer your foes such as healing spells, strength boosters, and forced sleep. Your skill to choose the best weapon and perform basic attacks would help you build your supply of power pills giving you access to more powerful moves. You would even need to steal the power pills of your foes to prevent them from accessing these powers.
Offensive and defensive moves have their own pros and cons, and once you learn a move, you can include it in any of your players “Four move repertoire”. This helps you to strategize and choose your player before every combat, by making an assortment of players having different skill sets, to conquer your foes.
The game has five worlds and various places to explore such as haunted house, pirate ships, swamps, mazes, etc. You also encounter puzzles as you explore these worlds. The storyline of the game is a bit disappointing as it strands you between objectives and won’t let you know as to why are you performing them. However, the game does a great job with the rhythmic combats, the colorful vistas, and the strings of moves making it fun to tap on the screen as you play it. With 55 different characters to team-up with and loads of different moves at your disposal, the game surely has brought freshness to its genre.
